On August 8th, we'll be hosting the first Swedish 10 hour team puzzle marathon event at Kulturhuset Möllan in Gothenburg.

What is the format of the marathon?

What is the Puzzle Marathon?

A 10-hour speed puzzling event where participants race to complete as many puzzles as possible.

How big are the teams?

Each team must have 4 to 6 competitors.

How many people can puzzle at once?

A maximum of 4 team members can be actively puzzling at any time.

Is there an age limit?

No, anyone can take part. Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.

Can we rotate team members during the event?

Yes, teams are free to rotate as often as they like. You can change puzzlers at any time, not just between puzzles.

How many teams can take part?

There is space for 14 teams in the event.

How do I register?

When does registration open?

Registration for the marathon opens at 12:00 CET on Saturday May 16th.

How does registration work?

To secure a table for your team, 1 person from the team needs to register and pay for the marathon once registration opens. This person becomes the team captain and is able to add other team members.

Please note: the team captain needs to have a Puzzle Rush profile. Other team members do not need a profile.

How does the team captain add team members?

Once the team is registered, the team captain will receive a link to a site to allow them to manage their team by adding, removing and inviting team members. New team members will be notified by email.

What do I do if I need more members for my team?

The team captain will be able to mark the team as being open to new members. This will allow people looking for a team to contact the captain.

What do I do if I am looking for a team to join?

A list of all teams will be available on the website after registration opens including whether the teams are looking for people to join them. You will be able to contact any team captains that are looking for new members.

How does the competition work?

How is the winner decided?

The winning team will be the team that completes most puzzles in 10 hours. If 2 teams have completed the same number of puzzles, the winner will be the team who have completed the most pieces of the next puzzle. Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 teams.

How many pieces will the puzzles have?

Most of the puzzles will have 1000 pieces, but you can expect a few surprise rounds during the competition!

Which brands will be used?

The brands are currently being finalised and will be announced closer to the event date.

Do the puzzles need to be completed in a set order?

Yes, all teams will complete the puzzles in the same order.

Do we have the option to skip puzzles?

No, all puzzles must be completed.

How many puzzles will there be?

There will be a total of 12 puzzles to complete as part of the marathon.

Do we get to keep the puzzles?

Absolutely! The team gets to take all 12 puzzles home, even those you do not complete during the marathon.

What size are the tables?

Each team will have a table measuring 120cm x 90cm.

Can we use sorting trays/boards?

Yes, you can use any sorting trays you like as long as you have space for them on your table.

Other information

How do I get to the venue?

The venue is easily accessible using public transport from Gothenburg city center. Further information will be sent prior to the event. Parking is also available close to the venue.

Can you help find accommodation in Gothenburg?

There are many accommodation options available in Gothenburg. We advise beginning with sites such as booking.com or airbnb.com. If you need more help, please get in touch.

Will refreshments be available?

There will not be food or drink available for purchase at the venue. However, there are many options within a short walking distance.

Will there be an opportunity to swap/sell puzzles?

Yes, after the marathon we'll have a marketplace where you can sell and swap puzzles. There will also be a few extra copies of the competition puzzles for sale if there are any you would like to take home.

What can I do when I'm not puzzling?

As well as taking a well earned break, there will be space to socialise and meet other puzzlers as well as places nearby to get refreshments.

Will the event be livestreamed?

No, the event will not be livestreamed, but live results will be available on the website.
